Yesterday, August 31st marked the 25th death anniversary of the Princess’s death and the Diana – Camilla issue has resurfaced again. Was she the reason for Diana’s continuous stress? We will dig deeper to find out.

Words of Diana

Diana once said, “There was three in my marriage to Charles, so it was a bit crowded”. She implied that Camilla who had an affair with the prince before the marriage is still having connections with him. This was just one year before her accident. After finding out that Charles is still having the so called affair, Princess Diana decided to confront the girl according to Andrew Morton’s book Diana: Her True Story — In Her Own Words. She attended a party, to which Camilla Parker was coming, along with her husband, Prince Charles. Diana says in her own words, it took her a great courage to at least shake hands with Camilla.

Please Give Him Back

Reportedly, the princess asked Camilla Parker to return her husband. Her exact reply was, “You have everything, why do you need more”. According to Andrew’s book, she went on saying that, “You’ve got everything you ever wanted – you’ve got all the men in the world falling in love with you, and you’ve got two beautiful children. What more could you want?”. Below is the conversation the duo had before that.

Diana: Camilla, I’d love to have a word with you, if it’s possible

As there was no reply, she asked the others to leave them alone, so they can talk.

Diana: OK, boys, I’m just going to have a quick word with Camilla. I’ll be up in a minute.
Diana: Camilla, I would just like you to know that I know exactly what is going on.
Camilla: I don’t know what you’re talking about!
Diana: I know what’s going on between you and Charles, and I just want you to know that.
Camilla: Oh, it’s not a cloak-and-dagger situation.
Diana: I think it is.
Camilla: You never let him see the children when he’s up in Scotland.
Diana: Camilla, the children are either at Highgrove or in London.

There is a famous saying going by, when William asked, "Papa, will you play with us?", Prince Charles supposedly said, "Oh, I don’t know if I have time.".

Camilla: You’ve got everything you ever wanted. You’ve got all the men in the world falling in love with you, and you’ve got two beautiful children. What more could you want?
Diana: I want my husband.
Diana: I’m sorry I’m in the way. I obviously am in the way and it must be hell for both of you, but I do know what is going on. Don’t treat me like an idiot.

This ended the conversation. But the blood it drew in Diana's mind never left.

Camilla and Charles dated for a few years before Diana’s marriage and Diana knew this. It is not because Charles had said himself, but because Diana found out herself. When Diana was marching towards the wedding altar, Camilla Parker was in the audience. Diana saw this and this started the wedding day with chaos. Her mood was really disturbed throughout the day. Princess Diana died of a car accident in August 31st of 1997. Even though she was deeply wounded, what took her life was the injury to her chest, despite the claim that she died because of blood loss. Everyone including Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth and even Camilla attended Diana’s funeral.

After Effects

With the death of the Princess, the popularity of the royal family drained to an all time low. People started claiming that the lack of care and stress drove her into the death bed. People have even voted in the television poll that Prince Charles cannot become the king if he married Camilla. It is one of the reasons that the Queen is still the Queen. 86% of the voters specifically said that Camilla cannot be their Queen. However, despite the odds, Camilla and Charles married in 2005.
